I Am Mancunian
I am Mancunian and proud
I play the music from this city out loud
I do things differently here
With the music inspiring the love I hold dear
A city with a mixture of all kinds of everyone
That all come together as a city of one
I feel the Gothic architecture around me
As I walk through my wonderful city
There's a warmth of feeling that you get
And it's the same with everyone from the city I've met
A sense of belonging, a sense of pride
A sense that we are all Mancunian inside
Your football allegiance may be red or blue
But the passion you show will always be true
We bounce back from the dark days
With strength and togetherness always
We did the same with the IRA bomb
I saw this wonderful city come together as one
Rebuilding the city into a modern day place
Where the friendliness remains with class and grace
I know that the city is always in my heart
Even if I may live a bit further apart
The feeling inside that remains inside of me
Is that I am Mancunian, and Manchester made me.
(I am Mancunian. And proud of the city. And always will be.)
Disappointment
I've taken the trip to Wembley once again
To see my beloved heroes in blue
See if they can win the FA Cup Final
And make some fans' dreams comes true
However Crystal Palace have never won it before
Their hunger and desire is for all to see
The Holmesdale Ultras are behind the goal
Willing in any chance with a song or three
So as the game gets underway
I do feel so many nerves for one
More so when Eberechi Eze scores for Palace
And shows how a counter attack should be done
City huff and puff with possession
And yet no matter what we cannot break through
Crystal Palace are being resolute to a man
Showing all their fans that their love is true
It is a tough lesson learned for my team today
In that you don't take your chances you don't score
But Crystal Palace fans will enjoy their glory
And a European tour which they will adore.
(Yes, I was disappointed that Manchester City couldn't win the FA Cup. But on the flip side, Crystal Palace's first ever win of this made me feel like they wanted it more, and their fans have European football next season, in which the Holmesdale Road Stand will be rocking without a doubt.)
Kentucky Derby Crazy Golf
I love my crazy golf courses so much
With differnent layouts of holes to play
So many of them need real skill to do well
And it's always so much fun along the way
So my love and I went to an indoor course
Where the scoring was electronic rather than low score
And we played the first eight holes well
But the ninth and final was one I will ever adore
You all played together and putted the ball
Into a set of holes to score more and go higher
So your horse would move along the screen at the top
With the winner getting the glory and the fire
It was the classic Kentucky Derby but with golf balls
And really did make me smile so much
As I putted the ball into the highest score
And the horse reaching the end was in touch.
(Whoever thought of making a crazy golf hole multiplayer and basically Kentucky Derby but putting the ball instead of rolling - genius. I loved it and want to go back and play that hole once again.)
Hip in Haggerston
Walking down the Kingsland Road
With a different vibe that you can sense
The little bars that open up at night
Along the railway arches and by the fence
There is the smell of the ramen from Tonkotsu
To the brewing of beer in Signature
And the Café Hebe serving up coffee and beer
There's certainly something for all for sure
It doesn't feel as hipster as Shoreditch
But that's probably for the better
As by the Regents Canal is a place to be
That really makes sense together.
(Must admit I did enjoy myself the last two times I've been around Haggerston for sure..)
Brian and the Bird Haiku
Brian looks outside
There is that bird yet again
Causing too much noise!
(Brian the cat would look at clawing that bird if he could - always annoys him during the mornings.)
